Pour écouter l’harmonieux signal
Et du moment qu’on le voyait paraître
On m’annoncait le refrain matinal
Et, tous les jours, une valse sonore
Frappait le ciel bleu ou blanc, gris ou noir
La nuit venait, nous la chantions encore
Nous l’appellions las valse du regret

Un air nouveau, remplace un air ancien
Sans le savoir et surtout sans le dire
Chacun de nous avait chanté le sien
Le souvenir même d’une follie
